This project will calculate greenhouse gas emissions estimates for petroleum jet fuels for the recent past and future scenarios. Researchers will break out results by world regions, quantify the potential effect of changes in future demand and crude oil properties, and estimate opportunities for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions along the petroleum supply chain. The results from this work will be used as a petroleum baseline for future alternative jet fuel analyses both within the USG and in support of U.S. efforts at the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP).
